Families of First Graders

Dear Families of 1st Graders,

Welcome to 1st grade at Thornapple Elementary!  My name is Kristin Green and I will be your child’s teacher this year.  I hope you had a fun and safe summer vacation.  I sure enjoyed mine!

I am an alumnus of Forest Hills Central High School and a proud Ranger.  I graduated from Cornerstone University and am eagerly anticipating this upcoming school year.  My degree is in Elementary Education with a specialization in Early Childhood Education.  I am currently enrolled at Grand Valley State seeking a Master’s Degree in Reading and Literacy Studies.  In my spare time I enjoy staying active and spending time with my friends, family and husband.

As your child’s teacher it is my goal to create a safe, engaging and positive learning environment so they can become a stronger student and individual.  Together, we will explore a wide range of activities that deal with Mathematics, Literature, Science, Social Understanding, Physical Development, Visual Arts and Social Studies.  Each child will have the opportunity to work independently and cooperatively throughout the year.  They will also, at times, learn by interest, readiness, and through their individual learning style.  We will have many opportunities for the students to show their individuality through various learning experiences.

I truly enjoy working with young children and helping them grow daily.  I look forward to helping your child learn this year.  If you need to get a hold of me, the best way is through e-mail at kgreen@fhps.us or by calling the school at (616) 493-8920.  I am looking forward to getting to you know both you and your children!

Sincerely,
Kristin Green
